Happy Monday! Another busy day in Room 9. Students worked very hard today and we continue to practice, and model for our peers, expected classroom behaviour. Students began their work on the letter Gg, please have your student review their letter sounds with you. They should be able to say the sounds for: Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee, Ff, and now, Gg! Students should also be able to identify that Aa and Ee are both vowels and have two sounds (short and long). Practicing these sounds at home only further supports your students to read and write as they learn new words. Room 9 was filled with scientists today as we collected data about our favourite colours. We used this data to make a graph, showing that red is the most popular colour in our room! See an example of our work below! Math centres today explored mathematical strategy, number recognition, subitizing, and counting on skills. Students are enhancing their skills through math games and practicing how to rotate through centres efficiently. Parents, remember that Tuesdays are our library day! So, if your student has any library books at home, please bring them back if they've finished reading them. Our Home Reading and Rainbow Word program officially starts today! Please be sure to practice reading both your students' book but also their yellow sight words! The first sight word testing will be on October 5th.
