Dear Parents and Guardians, Student-Led Conferences are coming soon! The purpose of these conferences is to provide your child the opportunity to share their accomplishments and celebrate all they have learned this year. Please note, we have made some changes to this year’s conference schedule: · On Wednesday, March 18, all students along with their families are invited to come to Rosscarrock School any time between 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Plan on being here with your child for about 30 minutes. · There is no need for you to sign up for a conference time. Your child will lead you through a series of activities and displays that showcase their learning. If your child’s teacher feels there is a need to formally meet to discuss you child’s learning, they will contact you to schedule a meeting time. These meetings will take place on Thursday, March 19, between 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. You do not need to sign up as the teacher will contact you directly. The Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place in the Library on both of these dates. You are invited to please visit with your child to shop for books. We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday evening, March 18, for a night of celebrating our learning! As for today, Tuesday March 10th --> we kicked off our day with more in line skating! Kids are LOVING this gym time and are learning how to control their bodies. We can't wait to skate again tomorrow. We practiced "bubbles" today and students are doing so well. Students also practiced the scientific process today. As we begin our Temperature unit we are going to be participating in even more experiments and we want to make sure we completed those experiments like real scientists. Students learned that an experiment is just a test. In order to complete an experiment properly, students follow the below steps: Students practiced the scientific process in a simple experiment using hot and cold water to answer the question: Can our senses be fooled by temperature? We found out that yes, when our hands are sensitized to a certain temperature, introducing the opposite temperature to than hand will result in us not feeling the temperature properly! In math, grade ones continued counting strategies by reviewing numbers that come before and after as well as exploring numbers that are found in between two others. Students can practice their number sense with the below: Grade twos have started their next unit in Sorting and Graphing. We study this unit so that we are able to display and compare data. Students are working on sorting data into groups based on rules. See how students can practice this skill at home:
