Families, as tomorrow is Halloween, please feel free to send your child to school in costume. Please note however we are not providing time during the school day to get into costumes.
Families, important information regarding an upcoming field trip Thursday November 7th is in your student's backpack. Please ensure you review and complete the required form and return to the school no later than November 6th. Any student who does not have a completed form cannot attend this field trip. Grade one students continued their practice using a chart to help with their counting of objects. This is helping students say numbers in sequence and write the corresponding numerals. Grade twos focused on their numbers all the way to 20. We talked about how we say teen numbers with their beginning digit first. Additionally, we focused on 13 and 15 as we do not say "three" or "five" teen, but instead thirteen and fifteen. Students then used this knowledge to count concrete objects. During Science, students learned all about the word 'transparent'. We experienced see through items by wearing Mrs. Berg's glasses and looking through our rainbow glasses too. Then, students made their own transparent pumpkins with some Skittles and warm water! Our afternoon was spent painting our pumpkins with our Grade 6 buddies. Students explored how paint sticks to different surfaces other than paper AND learned that transparent paint is not thick enough to cover the orange of the pumpkin! Stay tuned tomorrow for a picture of our completed pumpkins, they look amazing!!
